A product in Production Planning and Control environment is any item to be controlled by the company stock, such as: material for resale, maintenance material, consumption material, intermediate products, and finished products. For items that are not stocked, products are created with the code equal to GENERIC, EXPENSES, MISCELLANEOUS, etc.
Product has specifications, that is, specific characteristics that must be well defined in this register because the manufacturing of goods becomes a series of tasks that are repeated for each new unit produced. It enables work standardization due to the repetition of tasks that comprise the production process.
Labor is also defined as a product and it must be registered as follows: MOD + Cost Center (Labor + Cost Center).
