This procedure aims at generating automatically, through the products configurator, the products file with the following characteristics:
Product | Processor | HD | Code Generated |
Computer 01 | Pentium 1 | 020 GB | MICP1020 |
Computer 02 | Pentium 1 | 040 GB | MICP1040 |
Computer 03 | Pentium 1 | 060 GB | MICP1060 |
Computer 04 | Pentium 1 | 080 GB | MICP1080 |
Computer 05 | Pentium 1 | 100 GB | MICP1100 |
Computer 06 | Pentium 1 | 120 GB | MICP1120 |
Computer 07 | Pentium 2 | 020 GB | MICP2020 |
Computer 08 | Pentium 2 | 040 GB | MICP2040 |
Computer 09 | Pentium 2 | 060 GB | MICP2060 |
Computer 10 | Pentium 2 | 080 GB | MICP2080 |
Computer 11 | Pentium 2 | 100 GB | MICP2100 |
Computer 12 | Pentium 2 | 120 GB | MICP2120 |
The purpose of this procedure is to show how the system using the smart code generates all the products resulting from the combination of all characteristics mentioned above, according to the desired code mask. This way typing will not be necessary.
...
When products families already exist, the system display a screen where you can select how a new products family will be add, either manually or from an existing family. For further information about this feature refer to topic Structured Base Code Copy Feature.
If adding for the first time, the system displays the add screen divided into two parts. The upper part is the header and comprises general information on the characteristics to be registered for this family of products. All the desired characteristics are registered at the lower part.
2. Fill out the header according to the following instructions:
Field | Content | Description |
Content | MIC | RAM (Name of the product family to be created) |
Mask | @! | Convert all the letters typed into uppercase. |
Avail. to Use | No | This field can only be set to Yes when the file is complete so the system can make available the products generated through it. |
Description | Computer family | Descriptive field of product family |
Default Code | Yes | |
Default Field | Yes | Enter Yes for the system to consider the fields according to the products file default. |
3. Next, fill out the fields of the lower part of the file.
Field | Content 1st. line | Content 2nd. line |
Item | 001 | 002 |
Formula ID | P | HD |
Characteristics | Processor | HD Capacity |
Size | 2 | 3 |
Mask | @! | 999 |
Description | Processor | HD |
Type | Secondary | Secondary |
4. Check the data and confirm the operation, keeping the field to Use set to No.
The System saves the product family.
5. Click Cancel to return to the menu.
6. Click Codification.
7. In the Codification Maintenance window, place the cursor on the characteristic Processor and click Define.
The system displays the parameters screen with the following options to define the products family:
. Manual: The definition is typed.
. Set: The definition is built automatically by selecting a set of possibilities, previously registered in Sets.
. Range: The system displays a screen to enter the start number/code, end number/code and step of the range.
For example: if the start number/code is 10, the end number/code is 20 and the step is 2, the system defines the family as: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20.
. Copy: It defines the product family with the same characteristics of a previously registered definition.
Important: Copy can be used for Sets, though the procedure does not link the selected set to a characteristic. Therefore, changing the data from a set does not change said characteristic; the system copies only data valid for the set without linking it. |
. To continue the script, select Manual definition option for the characteristic Processor.
Type:
Field | Content 1st. line | Content 2nd. line |
Charact. Code. | P1 | P2 |
Description | Pentium 1 | Pentium 2 |
Descr. (prd) | Pentium 1 | Pentium 2 |
Active | 1 | 1 |
Check the information and confirm it.
The system saves Pentium 1 and Pentium 2 for the characteristic Processor with the codes P1 and P2 respectively.
Next, after placing the cursor on the characteristic HD, click Define.
Click Range.
The system displays the screen to configure the ranges.
Fill out the fields as follows:
Field | Content |
From: | 040 |
To: | 120 |
Step | 020 |
Check the information and confirm addition.
The system saves the following options for the characteristic HD: HD 040, HD 060, HD 080, HD 100 and HD 120.
Check the information and confirm it.
Click Exit to return to the menu.
In the Product Family Maintenance window, placing the cursor on the products family created, you can perform the following operations:
Structuring: It enables the configuration of products code automatically generated by the products configurator as well as the configuration of the fields saved in the Product Register when the automatic addition was performed.
To use this resource, the fields Default Code and Default Field must be set to No. For further information, refer to the topic Structuring.
Specification: It Allows the system to consider any type of specification desired for a product. See the topic Specification.
Simulation: Displays the products that would be automatically generated for the selected family on screen.
Default Data: This data is used to fill out the mandatory fields in the Products file when creating a product that belongs to this family.
Automatic Generation: Saves, in the product file, the products resulting from all possible combinations concerning the characteristics entered. To generate the products automatically you must first enter the Default Data. See the topic Automatic Generation.
According to the script, if the automatic generation is carried out, the system updates the Product file using the combination of all the characteristics presented. According to the example above, 12 computers.
After performing the operations desired, place the cursor on the family created and click Edit.
Enter Yes in the field Avail. to Use and confirm.
The system checks the data of the family created and validates the use of the smart code family. The system does not allow editing if any step in the process is incomplete.
Important: To use the products of the family created, you do not need to run Automatic Generation. The system makes available the possible products to other system routines, such as Sales Order, PO Generation, Sales Forecast, etc. In these routines the system displays a screen with all the characteristics of the product, allowing the selection of the desired product at the moment of the operation. Only after confirming these characteristics the system performs the automatic registration of the specified product in the Product Register. |
