Speaking of content topic items...

Topics items are the content that comprises class topics. A content topic item allows a teacher to add registered content so that students can view it. Content can be a video, PDF, Word, Excel, SCORM or any other type of file that students can view.

It is possible to deactivate or reactivate a content topic item. As it is deactivated, it is no longer displayed in the class, even if the student has already started it. When a topic item is deactivated or reactivated, the score of the active students, i.e., those who are still taking the subject, is recalculated. The score is recalculated whenever there is any change in the class topic structure. Inactive registrations are not affected. Inactive topic items are not considered in the calculation of grades. However, for the registrations that were completed prior to deactivation, they continue to be considered.

Create new content topic item


01. After clicking New topic item, Content in the topic where to create the item, enter the required information.

Required information:

Mandatory item
When checked, completing the content topic item is mandatory.

Name
Identification name of the content topic item.

Order
Order in which to display the content item in the topic.

Score type
How content topic items are scored. Available options:

  • Automatic: when selected, items are scored automatically, i.e. after the student completes the content topic item, the set score is automatically assigned to them;
  • Manual: when selected, the score is assigned manually by the person responsible for the content topic item;
  • No score: when selected, no score is assigned to the content topic item.

Automatic score
Score to be automatically assigned once the student completes the content topic item. This field is only displayed when the Automatic option is selected in the Score type field.

Weight
Weight of the content item compared to other content that comprises the topic. This field is not displayed when the No score option is selected in the Score type field.

Content
Content that students should view when doing this topic item.

02. In SCORM content settings, in the Behavior at start-up tab, define the required information when the topic item consists of SCORM content.

This tab is only displayed when the type of added content is SCORM.

Required information:

Viewing mode
How the SCORM content is viewed by the student. Available options:

  • View only;
  • View and preview;
  • View and review;
  • All of the above.

Use this score as a passing criterion
Score to be used as a passing criterion, which overwrites the SCORM package score. If this field is not filled out, it considers the score available in the SCORM package as a passing criterion.

Use this time as the minimum runtime for the package
Minimum time to view SCORM content. If the content is finished before reaching the minimum time, it is considered completed and the student will not get the specific grade for that content, if applicable. It must follow the format 9999:59:59.

Use this time as the maximum runtime for the package
Maximum time that is allowed for viewing SCORM content. It must follow the format 9999:59:59.

Action if time is exceeded
Action to be performed if viewing SCORM content exceeds the maximum time allowed. Available options:

  • End and send message;
  • End and do not send message;
  • Continue and send message;
  • Continue and do not send message.

03. Click the tab Display control and check the display control options to be applied to the SCORM content.

This tab is only displayed when the type of added content is SCORM.

Available options:

  • Display SCORM tree;
  • Display SCORM browser;
  • Display SCORM “Lesson status
  • Display SCORM “Max time allowed”;
  • Display SCORM “Score raw”;
  • Display SCORM “Total time”.

04. Click Save; or Cancel to quit creating a content topic item.



Editing content topic items


To edit a content topic item, you are required to have, at least, modification permission on the class to which it belongs.


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic whose item will be edited.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be edited.

04. Click Edit, located in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. Change the information of your choice. For more details about the displayed fields, see the basic path.

06. Click Save or Cancel to discard the changes made.



Previewing topic item content


To preview topic item content, you are required to have, at least, reading permission on the class to which it belongs.


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic containing the item content to be previewed.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be previewed.

04. Click the Preview icon, located in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. View the content that comprises the topic item. 

06. Click Close to return to the list of topic items.



Copying content topic items



To copy a content topic item, you are required to have, at least, writing permission on the target topic class.


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic whose item will be copied.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be copied.

04. Click the Copy/move icon, in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. In Item destination, click Search.

06. In the Target items window, enter the name of the location to which the content topic item will be copied.

07. On the displayed list, select the destination for the content topic item copy.

08. Click Add and close the window.

09. Click Copy.

When clicking this option, a copy of the content topic item is created in the set location.



Moving content topic items



To move a content topic item, you are required to have, at least, deletion permission on the class to which it belongs and modification permission on the class to which the target topic belongs. 


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic whose item will be moved.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be moved.

04. Click the Copy/move icon, in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. In Item destination, click Search.

06. In the Target items window, enter the name of the location to which the content topic item will be moved.

07. On the displayed list, select the location to which the content topic item will be moved.

08. Click Add and close the window.

09. Click Move.

When clicking this option, the content topic item is moved to the set location.



Deactivating content topic items



To deactivate a content topic item, you are required to have, at least, modification permission on the class to which it belongs.


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic whose item will be deactivated.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be deactivated.

04. Click the Deactivate icon, located in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. In the pop-up message, click Yes to confirm deactivation of the content topic item; or No to cancel the action.



Reactivating content topic items



To reactivate a content topic item, you are required to have, at least, modification permission on the class to which it belongs.


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic whose item will be reactivated.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be reactivated.

04. Click the Activate icon, located in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. In the pop-up message, click Ok to confirm reactivation of the content topic item; or No to cancel the action.


Deleting content topic items



To delete a content topic item, you are required to have, at least, deletion permission on the class to which it belongs.


01. In the catalog, find and access the subject and the class to which the topic belongs.

02. In the Class topics and topic items area, find the topic whose item will be deleted.

03. In the Topic items area, find the content topic item to be deleted.

04. Click the Delete icon, located in the upper-right corner of the table that corresponds to the content topic item.

05. In the pop-up message, click Yes to confirm deletion of the content topic item; or No to cancel the action.
