Protheus allows the user to use two measurement units:

• Standard measurement unit - used for all movements from purchase to sale.
• Second measurement unit - used for transaction involving parts using two different measurement units. This is obtained through a specific conversion factor.
• Conversion type - defines whether the second unit of measurement is obtained by multiplying or by dividing the 1st one by the conversion factor.
• Conversion factor - value applied to the 1st unit to obtain the second one, according to the conversion type.

Example:

1st Measurement Unit = 3kg

Conversion Factor = 1000

Conversion type = Multiplication

2st Measurement units = 3000 grams

The system controls the balance using both units, although the unit cost reflects only the standard unit value.
